This stage focuses on assembling the team and letting members get to know one another. Early on, enthusiasm is high but clarity is low. The leader’s role is to clarify objectives, roles, and ground rules so each person starts with a clear understanding.Storming:
It’s natural for differences or conflicts to arise. Common indicators of this stage include long meetings without decisions, defensive messaging, small cliques, or worrisome silence from some members. The leader should quickly turn disagreements into structured, positive critical thinking, and establish clear mechanisms for decision-making and committing to decisions.Norming:

Community Development ManagerConflict in the workplace is inevitable—but it doesn’t have to be destructive. Stephen Haunts, in his work for Pluralsight, outlines a clear path from tension to resolution, helping professionals navigate disagreements with structure and empathy.
By understanding the stages to resolution, project leaders can prevent small issues from becoming major roadblocks, strengthen team relationships, and foster a culture of trust. In high-pressure project environments, this skill is not just valuable—it’s essential for sustained success.
